These are the archived notes for my webcomic The Mansion of E,

FEBRUARY 08, 2019
Thanks as always to Whitehound for all her MoE archiving and work. She probably spends more time on this than I do.
FEBRUARY 06, 2019
Official Daily Update Info: The main ComicGenesis site is set to update automatically at 12:00 AM PST. With Comic Fury, every time I upload a strip into the queue, I have to remember to set it to that time, otherwise, it uses the time at which it is uploaded.
JANUARY 28, 2019
Since the issue has come up.. I sometimes use the nom-de-net Geoduck ("Gooey-duck") not because I legally am one, but because it is the mascot of my alma mater. As you might guess, it was not a typical school, but I was a weirdo long before going there.
JANUARY 18, 2019
There are at least a couple Patreon supporters out there who haven't gotten their rewards. If you want what's coming to you, get in touch with me and give me an e-mail address I can sent the pic(s) to.
JANUARY 01, 2019
Hapy Nu Yeer.
DECEMBER 24, 2018
For the holiday week, you get a few more Mansionverse Human Nation profiles.. along with one or two other things.
DECEMBER 06, 2018
To sort of answer some feedback.. all of this that Violet is dealing with is not an Ancient Tradition, but rather a conservative withdrawing prompted by The Crash, made worse by decades of Omega's influence.
NOVEMBER 26, 2018
Whitehound reminds me once again that I'm probably the only one who likes the Spire-Gal font, so as a voting reward, here's a possible replacement I could live with. Any better? Any responses are mandatory.. er, welcome!
SEPTEMBER 13, 2018
It appears that OhNoRobot.com is still/back online. It required a tweak in the link-coding, but I at least am able to search the existing archives again. Woot! Still can't add new stuff, but I'll take what I can get.
AUGUST 17, 2018
With the death of OhNoRobot.com, as at least a stop-gap measure I've set up an archive of the strip dialogue-transcriptions I had submitted with them. Click here or on TRANSCRIPTS up above if you want to search the raw(ish) data for a character's name or whatever via CRTL-F. There are links to all the comics through early 2016; after that, you need to use the search function over on the ComicFury backup site.
AUGUST 08, 2018
Ohnorobot.com, the site which supplies the MoE's archive-search, is currently offline. I hope it will recover, but since it stopped accepting new entries a few years back, I wouldn't be surprised if it is gone for good.
JULY 22, 2018
People are reporting trouble reading the fonts in the comic. If you are one of them, please be specific when reporting what the problem is.
APRIL 27, 2018
To answer a couple of recent questions- yes, there was some kind of temporary(?) security
warning about the comicgen.com domain. Seems to have corrected itself. But this place is such a ghost-town
anymore, anything could happen tech-wise. So, once again, the backup site is
and the MoE Facebook page is here.
And yeah, I suppose my render-version of Rosemary is little more curvy than the 2D version. If I ever do anything more with 3D stuff, I will bear that in mind. And if I was going to go back in time and do this all over again, I might just do whole strip that way..
APRIL 23, 2018
I've been messing around with 3D rendering, and so as, wow, an actual Voting Reward, here is my attempt at depicting Our Heroes as more realistic Humans.
MARCH 22, 2018
I retroactively added some sound effects to one panel of the strip for March 20, though only here on the main site, the original is still up on the backup site.
JANUARY 19, 2018
The backup site is experiencing intermittent technical problems, and updates there may be late.
JANUARY 01, 2018
Happy New Year. Welcome to new filler.
DECEMBER 05, 2017
OK, I'm back, more or less, but there may yet be interruptions in service.
NOVEMBER 30, 2017
I'm dealing with Real Life issues, and will be out of touch for a while. Hopefully only a week or so, but we will see.
OCTOBER 09, 2017
As noted, you get some filler this week, portraits of some folks who would otherwise probably remain as outlines.
SEPTEMBER 28, 2017
Thanks again to everyone who contributes by Patreon. A couple of you have never gotten your reward image(s), because I never got your e-mail addresses. If you have something coming to you, and want it, get in touch with me.
SEPTEMBER 15, 2017
Yes, yesterday ComicGenesis had another tech-meltdown. Or maybe it was the people who handle their DNS registration.
Either way, since CG is probably going to die for good some day, and I am getting the requested level of donations over on Patreon,
I am finally looking into moving to a for-pay host.
Nothing will change immediately, since setting up something like this takes time, and I am facing personal issues that are going to cause disruption as well. Thanks to everyone who has hung in there all these years. And once again, the backup site is here and I post announcements at the Moe Facebook page.
JUNE 02, 2017
So. 5000 official strips. Woot. To celebrate, you're probably going to get some filler for a bit.
To answer recent feedback: I changed the "until" abbreviation, ya grammar nazis. And yes, (mild SPOILER) the Operator was surprised that Rosemary was able to summon up a hammer and clobber him, not that the dream occurred at all.
MAY 27, 2017
Finally got around to cleaning out the dead wood down at the bottom of the page there.
MAY 13, 2017
ComicGenesis seems to have recovered from its recent meltdown, but I have to assume that a permanent crash will come some day, so I'm maintaining the backup site over at ComicFury. If everything freezes up again here, that's the place to go check.
MARCH 21, 2017
Two things. First, it sadly appears that the archive transcription service Ohnorobot isn't going to be fully restored anytime soon. The previously-entered transcripts are still available, but no new ones can be added. So, I've been using the built-in transcription-search service on the MoE backup site; if you're looking for a strip from the last couple of years, give it a try.
Second, there's been some talk in the feedback box about the MoE Wiki. I approve of its existence, and absolutely encourage you all to contribute to and use it, but here's a reminder that I consider it to be by and for fans, and I have never read or edited any of the articles. I do look at the front-page activity, and so thanks to Argadi for all the recent contributions.
MARCH 07, 2017
For anyone interested, here are the webcomic characters I was attempting to homage on the 3rd, top to bottom and left to right:
Othar Tryggvassen, Gentleman Adventurer
Bob the Beholder
JANUARY 25, 2017
I realized I made a couple of minor mistakes in the last couple of strips, so I did a spot of editing. (The main one was calling a town "Tove" instead of "Jonetown".
JANUARY 02, 2017
DECEMBER 25, 2016
Happy Holidays. To repeat what I posted with today's strip.. As I do every year, I took part in the 2016 Web Comic Secret Santa Exchange. My gift was from Spooktacularprize, creator of Between Hay and Grass, a relatively new comic about the adventures which ensue when a young girl and her father go to visit her grandfather's run-down resort. My assigned victim was Sam Orchard's Rooster Tails, an autobiographical/informational strip by and about a female-to-male trans person living in New Zealand. Both are fine strips, and with Sam's you might even learn a few things, both about the trans experience and New Zealand. Go check them out!
NOVEMBER 16, 2016
Continuing the discussion from the Feedback Box.. the members of the branch of Hack N' Slash under which Rosemary enlisted are the medieval equivalent of security guards. Yes, they are trained in the use of lethal (and non-lethal) force, and fully authorized to use it if they are threatened with a similar level of violence. But their primary function is protecting their client's property from being pilfered and/or the clients themselves from being bodily assaulted, and calling them "hired killers" is at best technically accurate. In fact, the contract under which she operated specifically said that she and her superior Baldy could not be ordered by their Caravan clients to kill anyone.
That said, yes, there are other less openly advertised branches of H&S which offer up people whose primary function is to kill people as directed by the client. Rosemary wasn't assigned to one of these, despite her sword-fighting talents, because it was clear she'd refuse to do it. Every sentient being she has killed to date has been actively threatening her life.
And again since it came up, the firm's name came from the nicknames of its two official founders. And yes, among many other things, they both worked as hired killers.
NOVEMBER 14, 2016
My Veteran's Day comic provoked a lengthy discussion on the feedback box. So, for the record, I did not remotely intend to depict all soldiers/veterans as being non-heroic, and if I did so, I apologize. As for how accurate this particular Smyt's comment is about the particular conflict in question.. any attempt I made now to describe what he witnessed/did would be tainted. So. Is he being modest? Cynical? Brutally honest? Decide for yourself.
And since it came up, Shabash is definitely not in any way intended to be seen as heroic or a role-model. She has generally made terrible life decisions.
NOVEMBER 10, 2016
I thought about doing a Smyt-strip about the recent Brush-forsaken election, but I suppose people come here to get away from that kind of thing for a moment or two. So, for the Mansion-folk at least, life goes on.
OCTOBER 29, 2016
I don't particularly have a name for this new arrival, so if you want your chance at MoE immortality, you can give him one by donating $5 via PayPal. First come first serve, and I reserve the right to alter your submission slightly if it's too obscene/out of place/Human-ish.
Thanks to fan J. for the donation.
SEPTEMBER 20, 2016
For the record: Cap'n Hamster is in full possession of all his hands/paws, feet and eyes. The eyepatch and the fit-on hook are affectations he adapted because they are things that pirates have, and he is a pirate captain. If he's not carrying anything, his upper appendages are hidden by his fur.
JUNE 18, 2016
Since the Oh No Robot transcription-archive service is still in read-only mode, I've gone over to the MoE backup site and plugged in transcripts for all the strips not in currently in the ONR system, which start in March 2016. There's no fan-editing option, but at least you can punch a character name or somesuch into the Search box and get a list of recent strips in which they appear. I'll try and keep it updated in future.
JUNE 02, 2016
The recent ComicGenesis tech upgrade/meltdown appears to be sorted out, but let me know if anything is still not working. (Apart from the promo box down below, I know about that..)
MAY 31, 2016
As always, I let the last chapter run too long, and so, onto a new one when I reach a halfway decent point for it.
MAY 26, 2016
Thanks to everyone for the spelling corrections, tho "Jaqualine" is staying the way it is.
MAY 02, 2016
I posted some making-of-the-strip trivia over on the MoE Facebook page. No spoilers, for those who worry about such things.
APRIL 13, 2016
Re: the April 12 comic. Yes, my inspiration for W's beard was the real-life Egyptian pharoah Hatshepsut.
To quote Larry Gonick's Cartoon History of the Universe: "How do I look?" "FINE, Your Thronepersonship!!"
And regarding Rosemary's comments about pants.. I'll probably address this officially in the comic at some point, but, in Mansionland, Human women all still wear dresses. They can be short/sturdy/sensible/split like on Rosemary's current outfit, but they are dresses. (And men mostly only wear pants, although Wizards got away with wearing robes.) No, this is not enlightened, but sometimes social progress is slow and erratic. This is not the case in all other Human countries in the Wide World.
APRIL 08, 2016
I'm told that Oh No Robot, which graciously supplies the transcription service for the MoE is undergoing some needed maitenence. This means the updating service will be offline for a hopefully short while, but the current archives are still searchable.
APRIL 02, 2016
FEBRUARY 18, 2016
To respond to various bits of feedback.. thanks as always for the spelling corrections. The S family occupied the last habitable valley before the Barrier Peaks begin in earnest. They also had a port that is now mostly used by the "Mansionland" navy as a base, though the civilian presence in the area is slowly growing as the general Post-Crash Human population begins to creep back up. And yes, I meant to use "commit agriculture"; there are those who seriously claim that humanity doomed itself the moment it started growing crops.
JANUARY 01, 2016
Happy New Year 2016. Thanks again to Xylobone Tomes for the Secret Santa art at Christmas. My contribution went to Doodling Around.
And thanks again to everyone who has chipped some cash my way via Patreon. With the new year, I really need to get a new computer, and your contributions will go towards funding that. Another way you can show the love is by sending me something on my Amazon wish list, or contributing to the MoE Wiki, or doing up a couple of strip transcripts back in the archives. And thanks for coming along all these years.
DECEMBER 22, 2015
With Christmas and New Year's fast approaching, there might be some more filler-ish stuff over the next couple of weeks. So, in advance(ish), Happy Winter Solstice Holiday of your choice. I plan to do some kind of cross-strip party scene again at New Year's. If anyone out there has a strip/character to plug, let me know, or just make appropriate suggestions!
And to answer a couple of feedback-box questions.. no, Old Man Larssen's first name is not Gary or somesuch, although he did indeed start his existence waaay back when as a one-off Far Side tribute.
And yes, it is odd that Rosemary has stayed on her hands and knees like she has.
DECEMBER 18, 2015
Since the subject came up on the feedback box.. I have a male human whose name is going to be mentioned for the first time in a few days. I have a moniker to use, but if someone out there wants to achieve their bit of immortality.. toss me $5 via PayPal, and you can name the guy instead. First come first serve, it really needs to be something English/European-sounding, and be aware that he might not be getting the most flattering of depictions. (Hey! A chance to smear one of your enemies!)
DECEMBER 10, 2015
I received a request for a clearer view of one of the posters on the MoE's theaterwall (near the door to the Basement) so I put together an improved version as a voting reward.
Also, to answer some questions/comments... 1. "Emperor Ett" is a mythical combining of both the early Earls and the Ettins themselves. 2. ComicGenesis's automatic posting system is sometimes an hour or so slow to activate. 3. Yes, Scraggy Island is my homage to Father Ted. 4. And wow, after all these years, NetHack finally comes back to life. Now I have to go update my tile set for it..
NOVEMBER 30, 2015
NOVEMBER 06, 2015
Following feedback about the November 4, 2015 strip, I went back and altered a line of dialogue to hopefully make the situation under discussion a little more clear, and added some notes about a separate point of contention.
OCTOBER 29, 2015
My semi-regular Participation Nag: If you enjoy the strip, please consider tossing a buck a month my way via Patreon. Or if money's out of the question, invest some time and write up an article about your favorite character or item over on the Wiki. (All I contribute to the latter is the promotion, I consider it to be by and for fans.)
OCTOBER 21, 2015
As you may have noticed above, since the Eetown chapter continues to run long, I officially broke it in two on the navigation dropdown. This time I didn't relabel any of the actual comics.
OCTOBER 06, 2015
Slogged though another set of strip-transcriptions, fixed the usual batch of spelling mistakes, and caught up through September. Always incredibly dull, but I'm quite often glad I have the archives to consult when I'm checking plot-points.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2015
As noted in the feedback box and over on the Forum, an attempt at making a free print(able) version of the MoE is underway. If you have any suggestions, pitch in.
Also, I always enjoy using websites that allow you to assemble a character in some artistic style or other; the latest to come to my attention is one promoting the upcoming Peanuts animated movie. So as a Voting Reward, here's my attempt at Rosemary as a Peanuts character.
SEPTEMBER 09, 2015
Posted another Far Distant Place toon as a voting reward.
SEPTEMBER 01, 2015
The end of a long hot summer in my part of the world. Got a new personal website set up here.
AUGUST 28, 2015
My personal website got nuked by its hosting ISP (long and complicated story, not particularly blaming them) and so any links that go there won't work while I look for a new home.
AUGUST 20, 2015
I did another one-panel comic set in a Far Distant Place. You can see it on Facebook or DeviantART. The latter also has a gallery of some other random stuff I've done over the years, if you're interested.
AUGUST 04, 2015
It appears that ComicGenesis has recovered from its recent tech meltdown, but I have to assume it will happen again, possibly permanently and completely. I really like the CG setup and will stick it out here as long as I can, but, I'm trying to be prepared to move on if/when I have to. If you want to be prepared as well, add either the backup site or the Facebook page or the Forum to your bookmarks.
JULY 16, 2015
Posted another random toon. You can see it by clicking on either the Facebook or voting buttons below.
JULY 04, 2015
Happy holiday to my fellow Americans. No real celebration here, though I did catch up on strip-transcripts through June. You all missed at least two spelling errors, and I disappointed in you!
MAY 27, 2015
OK, back after being semi out of touch over the long Memorial Day weekend. Fixed the noted grammar and spelling errors, thanks all. Also, I finally got around to cleaning up the archives of these notes, all the way back 2003, and I discovered that I've been using two different names for the Eetown blacksmith; I think I've got everything corrected now to "Sheldon".
MAY 20, 2015
When I originally started the current chapter of the strip, "Eetown", I really didn't intend or expect for it to run almost a year. So, with the transfer to a new backup site, I am (once again, I think) making a retroactive change to the MoE chapter structure; the current chapter is still called Eetown, but the (more or less) first half of it has been broken off into its own chapter, "Barriers and Gates", running from when the Mansion-to-Eetown travel party gathers under the Gatestone, to its arrival at the front door of the Eetown Temple. I think the only person this will inconvenience is Whitehound, with her alternate archives, and I apologize to her.
MAY 19, 2015
I have put together a new backup site, which can be found here. It is hosted by Comic Fury, which appears to be a far more.. healthy operation than Webcomicsnation is/was (and probably ComicGenesis, as well). Yes, the title graphic above still reads WCN, I hope to get that fixed tomorrow. Right now, the back-up has only the most recent strips posted.
MAY 15, 2015
As noted on the feedback box, the backup site is down. I suppose I'll start looking for a replacement, even if it does manage to get back on line again.
MAY 12, 2015
Once again, I posted another random toon over on the MoE Facebook page, or you can vote for MoE to see it.
MAY 08, 2015
APRIL 27, 2015
Did up another quickie random toon. You can find it on the MoE Facebook page or as a Voting Reward.
APRIL 21, 2015
ComicGenesis had a tech meltdown yesterday, but recovered. As I think I've said before, it's possible it will die for good one of these days. If that happens, I'll redirect www.mansionofe.com to some new site.
APRIL 04, 2015
Posted another random toon on the MoE Facebook page. Or, for those who are allergic to Facebook, you can view it as a Voting Reward.
MARCH 31, 2015
I went back and tweaked the dialogue of my Saint Patrick's Day 2015 strip to give (most) everybody official names, and added a few explanatory notes.
MARCH 28, 2015
As threatened, I did attend one day's worth of this year's Emerald City Comicon. It's been twenty-odd years since I went to a real fan-convention (I'm pretty much an introverted hermit) and it was a bit overwhelming, but fun. Even if I had the fanbase to warrant an official booth at such a venue, I'm not sure I would survive three whole days of it. Maybe I'll go back next year and make a greater effort to get out of my shell.
MARCH 23, 2015
I've posted a random toon over on the MoE Facebook page. May do a few more.
I plan/hope to visit the Emerald City Comic Con on Friday the 27th, strictly as a "civilian". See you there, if you're going.
MARCH 11, 2015
Only a couple of days' notice, but for $10 via Paypal (or a one-month-only Patreon donation if that's easier or more agreeable), you can name a "new" female Gnoll who's going to at least cameo in the strip. First come first serve, subject to my rejection/modification.
MARCH 05, 2015
The Patreon pledges have been paid for the month, and I dispatched the promised rewards. Hopefully everybody got what they had coming, if not, let me know and I'll do what I can to fix the problem. Thanks again to everyone who has sent some cash my way.
FEBRUARY 08, 2015
A Patreon update. Thanks to those of you who have pledged to pitch some money my way. The System has proven to work, so I sent off the promised rewards to the givers who have been officially charged. Everyone else, you'll have to wait a month or so for your February 2015 donation to be processed, but I will send on your rewards when that happens. Also note that while The System is set up to make monthly payments, if you want make a one-time pledge/donation, you can do that too; set up a pledge at whatever level, let the charge go through once, and then cancel the account. I'll still send the appropriate reward(s).
JANUARY 27, 2015
As you may have noticed above, I have done what all the cool kids are doing and set up a Patreon account for the MoE. It's a system making it (hopefully) easy to show your support for the strip by tipping me a buck or three a month. There are some rewards for doing so, so go check it out. Thanks to the Patreon folks for setting it all up and as always thanks to you for stopping by.
JANUARY 22, 2015
JANUARY 14, 2015
Updated the Recap page through November 2014.
JANUARY 01, 2015
Happy New Year and all that. There may be some art-work from other folks later in the week. Thanks again to Aero Zero for the 2015 Secret Santa portrait; my recipient was Run Lil Jared, which follows the unwilling adventures of the eponymous young lad who gets shanghaied away from his penguin school and taken to a monster-training academy on a cloud. It's all almost as weird as the MoE, so you all just might enjoy it! You can see my gift here.
DECEMBER 21, 2014
Following on the previous announcement, I hope to finish the current scene in the Temple, however long that takes, and then do something filler-ish for a week or so.
DECEMBER 13, 2014
I've been running on the ragged edge of getting strips posted for some time now, and at this rate, I'm gonna fall off, probably sooner rather than later. So, with the holidays coming up, I may.. not take a week off, but scale back for a week starting around the 22nd, maybe just do some character sketches, so I can get something resembling a strip-buffer built back up. If there's any character you'd like to see more of, maybe someone who's only appeared in outline form, here's your chance to make suggestions.
And following constructive criticism, I re-did the art in part of a panel on the December 12 strip.
OCTOBER 21, 2014
Probably too late now to ask, but if anyone out there has a comic and would like to do a character-costume swap for Halloween, drop me a line.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2014
Woo hoo. To (further) celebrate, I updated some of the older pictures on the Cast page.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2014
I'm doing some tidying up and rearranging on the site, so there may some broken links and missing images for a couple of days.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2014
SEPTEMBER 17, 2014
I added four new folks to the official Cast page: The Weirdo, Fantod, and the two Troglodytes Maggle and Wrawa.
SEPTEMBER 02, 2014
Since someone asked about it over on the new MoE Forum, I used the Wayback Machine to recover what I could of the old Forum, which turned out to be about half of the discussions. I dumped them into a simple .txt file, for anyone who wants to scan through them.
JULY 03, 2014
The MoE's anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks. Woot. Anyone out there of an artistic bent, celebration pics are more than welcome.
JULY 02, 2014
I realized that for Rosemary's last couple of appearences, I forgot to include her holding the instruction booklet, so I posted very slightly revised versions of the strips in question.
JUNE 26, 2014
Made some corrections to the Recap page (thanks eman) and updated it to the end of May.
JUNE 12, 2014
Hopefully ComicGenesis got the latest round of tech-problems sorted out, and updates will resume here. Once again, a list of links you can use in such instances:
The MoE backup site
The MoE Facebook page
The (new) MoE Forum
JUNE 04, 2014
I decided to follow Whitehound's suggestion, and have established a new Forum here. I've put up a post about the early days of the strip, and specifically the origin of Hax.
If the original Forum's hosting site revives, I'll switch back, but I'm not holding my breath.
EDIT: Added a direct link to the Hax post.
MAY 29, 2014
Updated a couple of the pictures on the Cast page.
And yes, the Forum is still dead. Anyone have any suggestions for a site that hosts such things? I'd even be willing a to pay a few bucks a month if it improved the reliability..
MAY 18, 2014
Yes, that was a Giger tribue the other day, and yes, Rosemary's last name is a homage to the heroine of the Alien movies.
And the strip-uploader system over on the backup site is currently busted, so there may be some delays in posting there. UPDATE: I finally discovered the problem is actually with the site that hosts the MoE Forum, run by the same folks. So.. updates are OK, but the Forum is currently offline.
MAY 13, 2014
Fine, you want a limerick. Here's one that's popular in-universe:
There was a young lady of Fenwick
Who once became most dreadfully sick
When queried what ailed her
Her composure quite failed her
And she screeched "Quaffed all the booze! HIC!"
Fenwick is a province in Mansionland known for turning out high-powered hooch. And yes, of course there is a vulger version which Griffington would have preferred, but I will not sully the discourse by posting it here.
MAY 05, 2014
Answering some of the recent questions/comments: I guess I have been "beefing up" the look of Gnollish arms and hands. Certainly so from the really early days when they were literally a 2 or 3 pixel wide line. The fem-Gnolls' names are Piranom and Lawnja (and Irnissa and Hiltsa). Piranom is indeed wearing shoes, but the dangling things are the ends of her very long hair, not a shirt. The reaching hand in the same strip is attached to.. oh.. Ambri.
And I do attempt to keep track of all these character names; the Official List is now over 900 entries long.
APRIL 24, 2014
Annnd I see I made another mistake in a recent strip which had to be corrected; in the first panel of last Sunday's strip I drew Crud with his mouth open. He was not intended to have any dialogue, and the art has been adjusted accordingly.
APRIL 23, 2014
Following comments on the feedback box, I realized I needed to tweak the design of the door that Rosemary and Sylvester are currently examining. I tried to make the very bare minimum of changes, but I did it.
Another comment prompts the reminder that my hosting service, Comic Genesis, is pretty much running on auto-pilot these days, and could easily die/be shut down at any time. If it does go under, I'll redirect mansionofe.com to somewhere new, but if you're into the whole Facebook thing, you can favorite the MoE using that link down below, and I'll post announcements as needed.
MARCH 19, 2014
As threatened, I did a Forum post about Human nations of the Known World.
MARCH 16, 2014
Since the topic of Mansionverse Human nations has come up of late.. as a Voting Reward, here is the latest version of the map of the Known World. Tweaked a few political borders, and gave a new name to one country which is yet to mentioned in-strip. Probably do a Forum posting with some more spoilers on the subject.
FEBRUARY 23, 2014
While doing the transcript for Sunday the 16th, I realized that I got a bit of the Fork's "dialogue" wrong, so it has been corrected.
FEBRUARY 02, 2014
Probably going to alienate half of my readers, but what the zark. In honor of the big day, here's a totally partisan re-posting of a Voting Reward from eight years ago.
JANUARY 26, 2014
Since the host is back online, I have caught up the archives at the backup site and re-enabled the link above. We'll see how long it lasts.
JANUARY 21, 2014
The first of the ComicGenesis New Year's Party pics has now been colorized by its creator, so I replaced the black-and-white outline pic. There will be another new scene this coming weekend, and possibly one more at some point beyond that.
JANUARY 17, 2014
Surprisingly, Webcomics Nation has sprung back to life. We'll see if it stays that way.
JANUARY 03, 2014
Re: the backup site. I'm finding conflicting reports about what caused the shut-down: that it was a technical issue, or that Webcomics Nation has new owners who deliberately pulled the plug. For now, the link that was at the top of the page has been removed. I will eventually start looking for a replacement, if needed. As always, remember that Comic Genesis could follow, so if you have a Facebook account, I suggest favoriting the MoE there.
And apart from that, Happy New Year.
DECEMBER 29, 2013
Yes, the backup site has suffered some kind of technical meltdown. It'll either get fixed, or it won't. If it doesn't, I'll start looking for new home.
DECEMBER 26, 2013
For a Voting Reward, some belated holiday art.
DECEMBER 13, 2013
Since it's Christmas time, here's my Amazon wish-list.
November 09, 2013
OCTOBER 23, 2013
Answering recent comments: I agree that "The Velvet Glove" is a great name for a ruler's flagship, which is why I swiped the idea after hearing it many years ago. Even with Google, I'd be mildly impressed if anyone can figure out from where. And yes, Isaac Asimov's Foundation novels were among my favorites growing up. On the other hand, "artistocracy" was just another misspelling on my part, and has been corrected.
SEPTEMBER 29, 2013
For anyone who's curious about the artistic process for MoE, I posted a Voting Reward which is a half-sized snapshot of a recent comic taken during a random moment in its creation via Paint Shop Pro.
SEPTEMBER 09, 2013
I updated the Recap page to the end of the Endless Day. One included bit of info that hasn't made it into the comic yet, but isn't particularly secret is that Sylvester and Mortimer's mother's name is Dorothea.
SEPTEMBER 04, 2013
On the occasion of the MoE's tenth anniversary, I did an interview with the the folks over at The Webcomics Police blog. Thanks to them for doing it, and check out their thoughtful reviews of other webcomics while you're there.
AUGUST 30, 2013
Over on the Forum, I got a question about the Earls of E, and so I corrected/updated the list of them which I posted there.
AUGUST 20, 2013
While doing strip-transcripts, I belatedly realized I had created a small plothole by leaving out an intended bit of information. I thus have added a couple of lines of dialogue between Rosemary and Sylvester to the August 8th, 2013 comic.
JULY 29, 2013
Wanted to commemorate the fact that the webcomic Paonia Pawns has successfully finished up its eight-year run this week. Congrats to its creator, Michael J. Ahlers. If you enjoy the MoE, you might enjoy PP as well; it features a long rambling plot, a massive cast and general weirdness of every stripe. Plus, as noted, you'll know going in that you'll get to read the whole story. The first strip is here, and yes, the art does get better as it goes.
JULY 24, 2013
For those who are getting bored of these, this is the last one. Something Somewhat Different tomorrow. Also, for anyone who missed it up on the feedback box, I added a new post to the Forum thread about MoELand religion.
JULY 16, 2013
Ten years. Woo hoo. For the next week or so, you get semi-filler from me and guest art, and then we start a new day.
JULY 14, 2013
Still a couple of days if you want to chip in some guest-art for the 10th anniversary.
In a possible sign of something, the computer monitor I used through almost all ten of those years finally bit the dust. Got a new slightly bigger one, which always means some artistic adjustments. Good time for it, I suppose.
JUNE 10, 2013
The 10th anniversary of MoE is coming up next month. If you want to contribute to the celebration artistically, now's your chance.
MAY 14, 2013
Tom T. over at Station V3 is celebrating his anniversary this week, so I sent off my usual guest-strip. Yes, we've both gone through ten years of this now.
Also, my semi-regular plug for joining the MoE Facebook page; if/when ComicGenesis bites the dust, that will be one place to get news. And sometimes I post less drastic news over there as well.
APRIL 17, 2013
If you're looking for more comics to read, I updated the Links page.
APRIL 13, 2013
While typing up transcripts, I realized that the speech balloons on this strip were confusingly arranged, so I did some tweaking with one panel.
And with that painting on the Grubbs' wall.. its real-life inspiration has something do with the first day that it appears. One hint: everything depicted is at least theoretically eatable. What it means in-strip may eventually be revealed.
MARCH 06, 2013
Happy to see that a comic I've done a couple of art swaps with, Squid Ninja, has started updating again, with heroine Hyacinth Petal now doing her thing in an all-new setting. Go check it out!
MARCH 04, 2013
In reference to my climate comments over on the Forum, I've posted the latest version of my map of "Mansionland" as a Voting Reward.
Random factoid of the day: at some point after I joined ComicGenesis, the Powers That Be started adding a CG-branding frame to new arrivals' strips. One of the features on said frame is a "go to a random CG comic" button. By some quirk of this system, evidently, I get a constant trickle of visitors from this comic, which is a VERY VERY NOT-SAFE-FOR-WORK Polish-language strip set onboard a cruise ship. So, to all those people who have passed through these parts in a futile search for more Polish porn, I can only say "Przepraszam!"
FEBRUARY 07, 2013
95% of you don't need to care about this, but for those who do.. I've decided to do a bit of housekeeping in the archives; we've been in "Part Four" of the plot, "The Road Less Travelled", for far too long now, and so I am retroactively breaking it in two. Fortunately, there was a nice and tidy place for it, and so now we near the end of Part Five: Mechanisms In The Dark. And yes, we are also almost to the end of the Endless Day. I mean it this time.
FEBRUARY 02, 2013
Attempted to pretty up the Recap page a bit.
JANUARY 01, 2013
Happy New Year all. Didn't end up with any guest art to celebrate, but may have something later in January.
DECEMBER 25, 2012
DECEMBER 04, 2012
For any other webcomic artists out there, you still have a day or two to sign up for the 2012 Secret Santa Webcomic Exchange.
NOVEMBER 06, 2012
Probably don't need me to remind you, but just in case.. all my fellow Americans, get out there and vote for someone or something.
NOVEMBER 01, 2012
Thanks again to Michelle Mau/VeryCuddlyCornpone of the webcomic Loud Era for participating in the Halloween art-swap.
OCTOBER 18, 2012
Updated the Recap page, for anyone who is interested.
OCTOBER 14, 2012
Thanks to reader BiggerJ for the typo corrections.
And now that we've gotten past spoiler territory, to answer a UK-based shoutbox question: no, it is not typical for children in the US to call their fathers "sir", but it does happen occasionally in some particularly authoritarian households. It is also not typical among Basement Gnolls; as I've tried to show, Agorn and Furphy sadly do not, by any standards, have a normal father-son relationship.
What else? Hax did not see the Change in the Riddle Grotto, but he said to Camora that he knew of such things happening.
Scibile and Skibble are definitely not the same person. Beyond that, stay tuned.
OCTOBER 07, 2012
If anyone out there draws their own webcomic, and would like to take part in a guest-art Halloween costume-swap, drop me a line; I set one up on the ComicGenesis forums and could use one more participant to make it all come out even. (Here's what I got last year.)
JULY 16, 2012
So, today is officially nine years. Woot! I suppose I could have called for fan-art or something, but I was forced to keep an eye on Real Life for a while, and decided to let it slide. If we're all still here in a year, I'll try to throw a real celebration.
JULY 01, 2012
Since it's been an object of fascination, here's a Voting Reward showing a larger version of the Basement wall-directory which appeared in a recent strip. Whether it's any more readable is debatable.
JUNE 17, 2012
The site hosting the Forum has gone offline. I have no info, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was permanent. I may look for a new home for it, or I may break down and just start using the MoE Facebook page. Or have all the cool kids moved onto something else now? I'm always at least five years behind the times with these things.
JUNE 09, 2012
Added a couple of folks to the Cast Page. Sigh.. I should update some of the art over there, but.. there's always another strip to do. One of these days..
JUNE 09, 2012
JUNE 05, 2012
Wanted to take a moment to commemorate the (evident) end of another webcomic I've enjoyed reading over the years: Mindmistress. Like some (cough), Mr. Schroeder's art may not have been the most dazzling, but boy, does the man have an imagination. Hope that he's able to find some new project that he enjoys working on, and shares it with the rest of us. And remember, evildoers, Mindmistress really exists, and she's still out there!
MAY 31, 2012
It's taken months of steady work, but now, I am happy to report that all 3000+ MoE strips in the archive are now fully transcribed in the OhNoRobot system; use the supplied box here on this page, if you have any MoE questions they can help answer. Thanks to OhNoRobot for setting it up in the first place, and to all the readers who helped out over the years!
Also thanks to KC for the donation; I did send an e-mail to the supplied address, but I'm not sure you saw it.
MAY 25, 2012
For those who like to use such things, I was able to cobble together a new RSS feed over at the MoE WCN backup site which actually displays the comic, rather than just a daily link to it. It doesn't update right at midnight, but it appears to come through at some point during the day. Thanx to the folks at Rsspect.com who provided the auto-magic coding.
I also gave in on two fronts: I disabled the comments features on the backup site because it was never used and complicated the aformentioned feed, and, otherwise unrelated, I spiffied up the MoE Facebook page a little.
MAY 20, 2012
It was brought to my attention this week that my backup hosting service over at Webcomics Nation continues its downward tech-spiral. If anyone out there uses a free webcomics-hosting service that they like/can recommend, besides Comic Genesis of course, drop me a line. In particular, it would be nice if I could set up an RSS feed that lets me include the actual daily comic.
MAY 08, 2012
The webcomic Station V3 is having its anniversary this week, and I chipped in my usual guest offering. Congrats as always to Tom T for his fine work!
MAY 05, 2012
Semi-regular warning: I don't trust either my main or backup web-hosts to not disappear in a puff of logic, so I recommend going over to the MoE Facebook page and friending or liking or whatever it is you do; if the main site dies, that's where I will post updates.
And to answer a slew of chatbox questions.. UTS: The Stephen King story was just titled "The Monkey," and yes, that's what I was thinking of when I included it. WH: It seems that any monkey that came from the ever-mysterious Kaylu has two tails. I won't say here what it is/was, but that name now has a certain bogeyman status in "Mansionland". RK24: That was mostly a "May the Fourth/Forth" reference, and mostly useless things get stored in this area, but you never know. G: Uncle Frederick touched on the wizard/trouble-maget link when Mortimer confronted him.
APRIL 18, 2012
Wanted to plug the time-skipping coming-of-age webcomic The Introvert Manifesto, which recently finished up its run. (Wow! What a concept!) I did a piece of Secret Santa art for it, so that just makes it that much better! Hope to see creator Neal Skorpen move onto new projects soon.
Also, there have been one or two topics broached on the Forum, if you're looking for more MoE infor.
MARCH 15, 2012
My New Year's resolution was to get all of these comics transcribed into the Oh No Robot system. I've been plugging away, and now roughly two-thirds of them are available. So if you've ever got a question about a character or such, you can use that search box down there to see when they've previously appeared. Or ask on the feedback box, that works too.
FEBRUARY 29, 2012
As was requested, I have added some links to character names over on the Cast page.
FEBRUARY 21, 2012
Added Sprocket and Flange to the Cast page, and made a few text-tweaks.
FEBRUARY 12, 2012
My semi-regular plug: if you want to help the MoE in a way that only costs some time, you can contribute an article to the Wiki, or write up a couple of strip-transcripts. We've got roughly half of the latter done.
JANUARY 25, 2012
For anyone who wants spoilers, I've been answering some questions over on the Forum. And not answering others; some things stay secret for now.
JANUARY 10, 2012
Since some folks may feel cheated by the current lack of on-screen Sneeches, as a voting reward, here is what I currently picture them as looking like. At least the ones with the den under the Mansion of E.
JANUARY 03, 2012
MoE reader Whitehound has been nice and dilligent enough to set up an alternate archive for the strip, which allows you to read the strips a week at a time on one page, rather than one-at-a-time. (Comic Genesis offered this back in the day when the ownership was taking more of an active interest in running the place...) She's also included chapter summaries which might be more useful than my recap page, written as they are from an outside perpective. Apart from giving it my blessing and offering one or two plot-nitpicks, I have contributed nothing to this endenvour; all credit to Whitehound. Find it here!
JANUARY 01, 2012
And again, thanks to AntiBunny's VinnieD for the guest art. Conversely, one of my giftees this year was The Introvert Manifesto by Neal Skorpan, a strip which details the life-trajectory of one introvert named Leif, the narrative bouncing between three eras of his life: his (sorta) MoEish childhood, his struggle up the grueling social mountain which is high school, and then.. ugh.. Real Life. Maybe not the most cheery webcomic in the world, but it's well done, so check it out!
Oh, and Happy New Year!
DECEMBER 25, 2011
Once again, thanks to William Chrapcynski of Binary Soul/Other Dimensions for this year's Secret Santa art!
DECEMBER 17, 2011
So. 3000 of these things. Woot. Thanks as always for sticking with it. To celebrate, I got around to updating the Recap page, plus we really are finally getting close to the end of the Endless Day. Next week hopefully there will be some Christmas-type stuff.
DECEMBER 02, 2011
Looking back at last Sunday's strip, I realized I used the Gnollish speech-font on Mr. Flip's dialogue. This was a mistake, and I have changed it to the one I use for Humans.
OCTOBER 24, 2011
Just for the record, I went back and fixed a minor continuity error in Thursday and Friday's strips.
OCTOBER 20, 2011
For anyone who doesn't check out the Forum very often, there's currently a long rambling discussion thread where I've been trying to address various questions posed by strip-fan Whitehound. Check it out if you want more background details and various minor spoilers. I very much encourage people to contribute and nitpick; I'm always improving and adding to the strip's backstory when mistakes are pointed out to me. (And you can make longer comments than using the shoutbox over there.)
SEPTEMBER 04, 2011
Since today's strip mentions a Human country, here's the lastest copy of my map of the Known World as a Voting Reward. As always, I've never "officially" posted it here on the site because I'm always tweaking it as ideas and minor details come to me. Still, what you see can be considered about 95% accurate. If anyone want to post it over on the Wiki, feel free.
AUGUST 27, 2011
A new Voting Reward. This one has nothing in particular to do with the Mansion of E, but it gives you an idea of what the comic might look like if I had endless hours to spend on every strip..
AUGUST 04, 2011
I've been slacking off in regards to answering recent shoutbox comments, so.. 1. Yes, I misspelled "remnant", and yes, I do want people to proofread, but since three of you pointed it out, I suppose now I have to do something Creative. 2. No comment on subShaft origin theories. 3. Yes, I used The Guardian of Forever from the original Star Trek as the model for the Remnant/Remnent, but it is not literally the GoF; this is not the same "universe" as Star Trek. 4. Truffula trees are the Mansionverse's equivalent of palm trees, and only grow in more tropical climes than "Mansionland". They again look pretty much like they do in the source material, (The Dr. Seuss book The Lorax.) 5. In regards to the Ferns, I imagine the question's mostly been answered, but stay tuned..
JULY 17, 2011
And so another year begins. Thanks for sticking around! To celebrate, along with Tom T.'s guest art, here's a Voting Reward which shows how some MoE foks might appear on the TV show South Park. Yes, I've used SP character-generators before, but this is the first I've seen that allows you to depict the subjects as adults. I would have done The Weirdo, but sadly Mr. Hat is no longer a standard fixture in the SP family.
Now go transcribe a couple of comics; with your help I have a third of them already done. Contribute to the Wiki. Add to the MoE TVTropes page. Do it now!
JULY 01, 2011
On a completely irrelevent note, here are some things I have happened across on YouTube which I particularly enjoy: 1. Very possibly the greatest cover tune ever recorded. 2. The best example of scatological humor ever committed to film (very marginally NSFW, I suppose.) 3. The best-ever outtake from The Carol Burnett Show (again, maybe NSFW, if your employer's a real prude). Two out of three involve elephants, but I think that's just a coninciendence.
JUNE 22, 2011
Vague rumors have been swirling around the future of both ComicGenesis and my back-up site Webcomics Nation. If they both go under.. I dunno. Look for a new home, I guess. If you want to keep in touch, you can always keep an eye on the MoE Facebook page. UPDATE: I was asked where I heard this, and there are forum discussions here and here.
JUNE 18, 2011
The voting rewards system seems to be acting correctly, so here's another, a closeup of the Time Hall clock.
And with the anniversary rapidly approaching, the usual reminder of free ways you can contribute to the MoE: Go back in the Archives and transcribe a couple of comics. Write up your favorite person/thing/idea over on the Wiki. Or, add anything you can think of to the MoE TVTropes page; I get a steady stream of visitors from there already.
JUNE 08, 2011
In about a month I'll reach another anniversary here on the MoE. Any other artists/webcomicers out there who would like to join the celebration and contribute some guest art.. now is your chance!
Also, I am informed there may be something wrong with the voting rewards ranking system, so as a test and a reward, here's a portrait of Tand.
MAY 23, 2011
I scrounged a few more random miscellaneous cartoons from my archives and posted them to my DeviantArt page.
MAY 21, 2011
I got off my butt today and attended the 10th annual Olympia Comics Festival. I wasn't crazy enough to actually rent a table like some folks, but if any of you were there and saw a fat bearded guy with an ugly hat and a small blue bag wandering around, that was me. Woot. I went mainly to hear the talk by Larry Gonick of Cartoon History fame, who has always been one of my favorite artists. Nice to put a voice and face to the name.
If any of you live anywhere near Olympia, WA, maybe next year we can have some sort of informal meeting, have lunch or something. Lots of good restaurants in town..
MAY 10, 2011
Over at Station V3, Tom T. is celebrating another anniversary this week, so I chipped in my usual guest-comic. Congrats, Tom!
Also, still have a couple of upcoming names available, for anyone who wants their slice of MoE immortality.
APRIL 27, 2011
It's ANNUAL FUNDRAISER time. (YAY!) I have at least two new characters appearing shortly, and if you chip in $5 or more via PayPal you can name one of them. They will all be non-Human Basement-dwellers. They will (re)appear when and if useful for plot-purposes. (Skradt was named this way, and look how well he's done for himself..) First come first serve, but if I get more than two responses, I will use the rest as soon as possible. Or for the same $5, I will draw and either email or snail-mail you a picture of your favorite MoE character doing whatever you want. For $2 I'll put a bit of graffiti of your choice on the walls of the Basement.
With all of these, I will also toss in an e-mail copy of my official cross-section of the Basement which has never been posted online.
I resevere the right to make (hopefully minor) edits for taste and plot-appropriateness.
I also hope to put together a new CD-archive disk which covers and annotates the entire Endless Day, but that won't happen until the Day.. well.. ends, and I'm still not sure exactly when we will reach that milestone. (But we really are getting close, honest!)
APRIL 12, 2011
Digging around in my archives, I found a picture I evidently intended to post as a voting reward.. or somewhere.. but never got around to displaying. Or if I did it, it's been several years. So, as a voting reward, a Random Basement Inhabitant. I also dumped a few more (very) odds and ends onto my DeviantArt page.
APRIL 04, 2011
Greetings to anyone still wandering in from The Comics Curmudgeon, and thanks to Jim for the MoE plug. I've been known to visit the CC myself on occasion, although expending such vast amounts of premium-grade snark, vitrol and bile on a bunch of newspaper comic strips sorta comes across as a case of going after trundlebugs with a flame-thrower.
MARCH 30, 2011
For a long time I've had a DeviantArt account sitting around doing nothing, so I finally got motivated and posted a few odds and ends there, some related to the MoE, some not. Also linked to all the MoE fan/guestart on DA that I could quickly track down.
MARCH 14, 2011
My semi-regular reminder of ways you can help the MoE that only cost you some time: Page back into the archives, and write up a couple of transcripts at Oh No Robot, or go write up an article on whoever or whatever for the fan-created Wiki.
MARCH 07, 2011
Guess I will comment on the recent visitor-speculation. 1. I now regret using the name "God" for the character in question, to the point of considering an overt retcon, but I've gritted my teeth and stuck with it. A much better name would have been "The Lord". Take that how you will. 2. If I had realized how alike Superrock's and the Fixits' legs look, I would have changed one or the other; although they came first, I would probably give the Fixits something more like sucker-pads. 3. If you're interested in where I (almost certainly) swiped the idea of Fixits, it was most likely an episode of the old-ish Disney cartoon Darkwing Duck, entitled "Battle of the Brainteasers." Check it out if you ever get the chance.
FEBRUARY 03, 2011
Continuing an unintentional theme, I found another real-life MoE species, or at least a relative. Click for the Voting Reward.
FEBRUARY 01, 2010
A reader was kind enough to bring to my attention a photograph of what appears to be one the Mansion critters brought to life. The creators, whoever they were, got the legs a little too long, but apart from that.. See it in another Voting Reward. TEST5
JANUARY 26, 2010
JANUARY 18, 2010
As the name of the latest chapter might suggest, the Endless Day really is finally winding down. When Tomorrow comes, there are going to be some changes around here. I'm still mulling exactly how drastic they will be; you all may have to put up with some public experimenting.
DECEMBER 29, 2010
DECEMBER 26, 2010
And my other Secret Santa assignment this year was my fellow ComicGenner AntiBunny, which details the lives of a persecuted minority of anthropomorphic rabbits living in Gritty City. Reading it is, intentionally, I think, not an easy-going experience, but it's worth it, with interesting ruminations on race relations and heroes/vigilanties. (Although I went pretty light n' fluffy with my guest art.. hey, it's Christmas..) Check it out!
DECEMBER 20, 2010
I sent off the first of my assigned Secret Santa art; it is for Paonia Pawns, which details the adventures of a group of Weirdness-Magnet teens who find themselves caught up in the multi-dimensional backstabbing of a group of god-like "Players". General, yes, weirdness, and a long twisting plot with lots of side-branches, but well planned out. So yeah, if you like MoE, you'll probably like PP as well, give it a try! One small note of caution: while it starts out relatively light-hearted, it ends up covering some pretty dark material.
DECEMBER 15, 2010
Over on the Forum, reader Whitehound posted a lot of new questions/comments in various threads. I've been trying to answer what I could; thanks to her for the interest.
DECEMBER 10, 2010
Questions to be answered..
DECEMBER 01, 2010
The Trog may have lost the fight, but he's been given a name. Thanks all.
NOVEMBER 29, 2010
NOVEMBER 10, 2010
Since strips come and go quickly around here, thanks again to Serge of Red City for the Halloween strip-swap, and again to Rob Lopez for doing the interview. If you have your own strip, and want to get involved in an art-trade, check out the 2010 Webcomic Secret Santa Exchange.
OCTOBER 29, 2010
Guess I found one use for a MoE Facebook page: the next time there's a Comic Genesis technical outage, I'll post an announcement there. In fact, we have to assume that Comic Genesis will die entirely some day, and when it does, it's liable to be quick and brutal. So, if you're a Facebook fan, link up now! And, as always, there's the back-up site here.
OCTOBER 27, 2010
Since everybody else in the world has one, I set up a Facebook page for the MoE. You can find it here, and do whatever it is you do with Facebook pages.
OCTOBER 21, 2010
I'm a day late with this, but I wanted to express my support for Spirit Day, in which everyone is/was encouraged to wear purple in a display of solidarity for gay/lesbian teens who have experienced bullying. Since I don't actually own any purple clothes at the moment, here's a Voting Reward featuring.. a straight-but-enlightened couple who has made one or two appearances in the strip... (Sorta mild spoilers, if you haven't been paying close attention..)
OCTOBER 16, 2010
Rob Lopez, creator of the ComicGen webcomic Forsaken Stars, interviewed me via e-mail, and has posted the results on his blog. Learn everything you never wanted to know about me and the strip! Get a few spoilers! See what I really look like, so you can toss sacks of money when we pass in the street! Do it now!
OCTOBER 04, 2010
Updated the Links page, for those looking for more webcomics to read.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2010
Updated the Recap page, for those who monitor such things.
AUGUST 21, 2010
Thanks to the generous assistance of a reader, it appears that the Oh No Robot transcription buttons are now working properly; if you want to do up some transcripts, here's your chance! As noted before, do five or more and I'll send you a map of the Basement, or post graffiti of your choice in-strip, subject to approval and editing.
JULY 18, 2010
Something I forgot to mention about the transcription offer below.. There's a glitch in the OhNoRobot system which sometimes makes the "click here to transcribe" button not appear. If you're back in the archives, and you see a darker-blue rectangle above the words "Search The Mansion Of E", that's where the button should be. You can check back later, or you can carefully hover your mouse-pointer over the very center of that rectangle, where you'll hopefully find a functioning link to the transcription-page. With Firefox, if you "click and drag" over the rectangle, the link will be highlighted, making your job easier. Other browsers will get you into the right neighborhood using this trick, but it won't be as precise..
JULY 16, 2010
Another anniversary. To celebrate, here's a new offer.. if you go back into the archives and do up at least five new OhNoRobot dialog-transcripts, I'll treat it the same as a PayPal donation of $2 or more, and e-mail you a copy of the Basement map, OR post some Basement graffiti of your choice in a strip. Disclaimers: Yes, you have to actually do the transcriptions right, and not toss off something jokey. Yes, I retain veto power over graffiti-ideas, and I may alter them slightly to be more continuity-friendly.
JULY 15, 2010
If you've ever wondered what Rosemary might look like in real life, actress Alexi Wasser in this advertisement comes pretty close. For Sylvester, the best I've seen to date would be Neil Patrick Harris, with a black wig and glasses..
JULY 5, 2010
Now that you've all patched up your burns and gotten over the food-bloat, there's another celebration coming up on the 16th; 7 years of the Mansion of E. If you want to contribute something, now the time to spring into action!!!
JUNE 12, 2010
I happened across another webcomic you all might enjoy. A Moment of Peace features simplistic art, strange monsters eating each other and a vague wandering plot. I suppose it has bad points, too, but oh well..
JUNE 01, 2010
I've been plugging away at strip-transcriptions. If you ever want to look through an archive of the result, you can go to this page in the OhNoRobot system.
MAY 14, 2010
As a Voting Reward, a belated nod to Mother's Day with an adventurous mother/daughter duo who have been mentioned a time or two in the strip. Still working on exactly what they look like.

If you're looking for a way to contribute to the MoE that only costs you some time, the OhNoRobot archive-transcription service is now fully updated. The first strip that needs transcription is April 30, 2004. As noted below, your browser may or may not let you see the ONR button on the archive pages; my tests show it works with Firefox, Google Chrome and the Windows version of Safari. Internet Exploder is more hit and miss.

As a Voting Reward, the latest version of the entire map of the Known World, still subject to minor adjustments and inspirations. Anything that gets posted as a VR can also be posted on the MoE Wiki, if it is so desired; the only thing offically off-limits is the Map of the Basement, which has to be paid for.TEST4

As noted in the comments box, I am happy to report that a Mansion of E wiki has been launched. Thanks to reader ArchAngel for getting the project going. Anyone is free to look stuff up, or to contribute entries about anything Mansion-related. (Characters, objects, settings and so forth.) As long as there is no money being directly made, I give permission to copy artwork from here to use in said entries. However, please be aware that while I give the project my official blessing, for now I will not be posting, editing or even reading any entries; this is something of, by and for the fans. We may set up some sort of specific page where I can lurk.

JANUARY 08, 2010
